My research lies at the interface between computational mechanics and applied mathematics. Its central objective is to develop reliable and efficient methods for wave-propagation problems in configurations that retain the complexity of the underlying physics. I combine mathematical analysis, numerical-method development and high-performance scientific computing, working in close interaction with academic and industrial partners.
I study acoustic and elastic wave propagation in heterogeneous and layered media, multiple-scattering configurations, and coupled acoustic–elastic systems. My aim is to move beyond idealized model problems towards realistic geometries and physical configurations, with applications in seismology, underwater acoustics and flow-induced noise.
I develop boundary element methods, fast multipole and hierarchical-matrix techniques, domain-decomposition methods, analytical preconditioners and anisotropic mesh-adaptation strategies for large-scale wave simulations. Alongside the mathematical analysis, I directly design, implement and validate the high-performance research codes used to assess these methods and perform large-scale simulations.
More recently, I have been exploring machine-learning and operator-learning approaches to reduce the computational cost of large-scale and repeated wave simulations, while preserving the physical structure, robustness and accuracy of classical numerical methods.
